Eligible Child Sponsor in Australia

The applicant must have a child who is:

• An Australian citizen
• An Australian permanent resident
• An eligible New Zealand citizen

The sponsoring child must usually be settled in Australia and provide support to help their parents establish their life in Australia.

Balance of Family Test

Applicants must meet the Balance of Family Test, which requires:

• At least half of the applicant’s children must be living permanently in Australia, or
• More of the applicant’s children must live permanently in Australia than in any other country.
